Animating straight-ahead!

I am most proud of this spot I did. I really wanted to try something different this time, and the story was sci-fi 80’s, so I thought “Pulp comics inking” + “80’s airbrush” + “vomit acrylic colour” + “straight-ahead full animation”.

It’s the Adult Swim promo we were surprised the lawyers approved!
Come with us on a journey deep inside co-director Greg Sharp’s problematic feelings towards squeezable sauce toppings.

Soon, soon,

Soon, soon,

Some background paintings from High Score

Hoooree this is the second of my Adult Swim promos.
Had been waiting for an excuse to design malproportioned athletes wearing logo-infested tracksuits and stadium lighting.
Had lots of fun working with everyone, big ups!
And of course thanks to the AS producers for giving the green light!

The third short for Adult Swim. When the kindly producers asked us to write whatever we wanted, they released a torrent of repressed gags that we’ve never been able to get paid for.

High Score reveals RH co-director Greg Sharp’s subconscious fixation on muscles, screaming, and exploding.

We also brought in l’ecole des Gobelins student Vincent Tsui, Melbourne based Nikhil Markale and Adelaide based Hannah Murdoch for additional animation and clean-up.

At the beginning of the year we were invited by the mature, elegant & tasteful producers at Adult Swim to produce, in bulk, a bunch of idents, bumpers and shorts.

We decided to use this opportunity to write & direct independently, explore some new styles and run separate crews.
We’ll be releasing two today and then one a day allllllllllllllll week!

First up is Greg Sharp’s “Protein”. Based on actual events at your local gym.

Yeah yeah my first of my idents for A. Schwimm.

What’s this I did for Adult Swim?

Sydney people! we are holding the Loop de Loop in Sydney for the first time ever. There will be animation, booze, and even a bit of food (if the kitchen is finished on time!)
In the spirit of the Loop de Loop’s DIY roots, the screening will be held at Knox St Bar, a newly converted garage/underground drinking hole (complete with house brewed cider and beer). I’m bringing a bunch of my friends and you should to!
Hosted by Myself, Greg Sharp and Dave Carter and supported by Mighty Nice.
Just a reminder the theme for this month is Block, and submission are due Sunday the 20th July. Even if you don’t get yours in on time (I’ll be struggling for sure!) come down for a drink and catch up with some of your friendly local animators. It’ll be fun.
7pm-10pm 9 Knox St, Knox St Bar. Free Entry. All Welcome.

Yes yes. Dave Carter, Alex Grigg and I have started up an officially sanctioned loop de loop Sydney chapter. If you want a mid-week getaway, come hear our MC’ing, watch animation loops, drink the beer from the drinking hole!
29th July 7pm-10pm 9 Knox St, Knox St Bar. Free Entry. All Welcome.
